Self-care is not selfish; it's essential for providing the best care to others. Research on caregiving reveals that within five years of caring for an older adult, caregivers are at high risk of experiencing a significant health crisis due to neglecting their own health while focusing on their loved ones. Utilizing a Self-Care Wheel, this program encourages caregivers to establish personal routines and rituals to prioritize their well-being. Caregivers must be reminded and supported in caring for themselves beyond superficial solutions and common clichés. In this class, participants will define what self-care means to them, learn effective coping mechanisms, and develop strategies to integrate self-care into their daily lives consistently. This is a nurturing class, and is limited to six attendees.
