In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the glowing reds of madder (Rubia tinctorum), a plant dye used for thousands of years. Using simple shibori-inspired folding and binding techniques, we’ll shape cotton or silk and dye everything together in a shared madder bath, revealing bold patterns in shades of coral, rose, rust, and brick red. Short stories woven into the process trace madder’s journey across time and cultures. Everyone will leave with several finished pieces to take home.
Notes:
$10 materials fee payable to the instructor at class (cash, check, or venmo).
