Writing represents the way a language is spoken and has constantly evolved over centuries to accommodate changes in speech. The way language is written has also evolved over human history. This course will be a journey across three major languages within the Indo-European language family - Latin/Roman, Hindi/Sanskrit, and Arabic - to explore their sounds, the way they are represented in writing, and learn a tiny bit of language history along the way. Students will learn how to write in each of these scripts and leave with the ability to read the sounds of different languages. This simple course is intended for anyone interested about language in culture, art, and music. Suitable for beginners.
