From the beginning of recorded sound in the early 1900s to the development of bebop following WWII, we'll listen to a wide selection of vintage music, all played on the original 78 RPM records from my personal collection. Famous artists of the time period like Fats Waller and Duke Ellington will be featured, as well as now-forgotten greats like the delightfully jazzy Annette Hanshaw, and the brilliant comedian Bert Williams. You will hear historical material you are unlikely to hear anywhere else. Music fans will be sure to enjoy this entertaining and informative course.
