Discover the fundamentals of interior design by creating a personalized interior for a small house or apartment tailored to the client of your choice—a young professional, a retiree, a growing family, or even a favorite fictional character or superhero. Begin by developing a mood board with inspiring images, colors, materials, and furnishings that reflect your client's personality and style. Then bring your vision to life by designing the floor plan, selecting furniture, lighting, finishes, and color palettes. Whether your design is calm and inviting or bold and energetic, you'll learn the creative process behind transforming a space into a home.

Notes:

A list of drawing/drafting supplies will be given out the first day of class. Students will need to bring a laptop to some sessions.

Barbara Macauley

Interior Design: Barbara is an architect with over twenty years teaching experience, and both drawing and design have been passions throughout her life. She taught grad and undergrad interior design at Thomas Jefferson University for ten years, as well as at Moore College of Art and The Rhode Island School of Design. She also taught architectural design classes at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. Drawing: Barbara is an architect with over twenty years teaching experience, and the art of drawing has been a passion throughout her life. She coordinated and taught freshman drawing classes at Thomas Jefferson University for ten years, and currently teaches freshman drawing class in the interior design department of Harcum College. She’s also taught at Moore College of Art, The Rhode Island School of Design, and Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.
