What did the Supreme Court decide this year, and what do those decisions mean for our rights, government, and everyday lives?
The Court weighed in on some of the nation's most contentious issues, including transgender participation in school sports, First Amendment protections for therapists' speech, immigration and birthright citizenship, voting rights, campaign finance, presidential power, and the limits of government authority. In West Virginia v. B. P. J., for example, the Court ruled on whether states may restrict transgender girls from participating on girls' sports teams. In Chiles v. Salazar, the Court considered whether laws restricting so-called conversion therapy violate the First Amendment.
We will unpack these and other landmark decisions, explore the justices' opinions and dissents, and consider how the Court's rulings may affect American society for years to come. We will also look ahead to the 2026-2027 term and the important cases already on the Court's agenda. The Court is expected to again consider the 2nd Amendment Right to bear arms, citizenship requirements for voting, additional immigration and executive power issues.
