Through hypothetical and real-world Mt. Airy examples, participants will gain an understanding of how developers work within—and sometimes push the boundaries of—city regulations. Participants will explore the balance between development and community needs, change and preservation, and how decisions regarding building height, density, parking, and land use help shape neighborhoods. This course will dive into the complexities of Philadelphia’s evolving regulations, the possibilities of mixed-income and energy-efficient housing, and their interdependence with public transit.
