Curl up with some great books this winter and enjoy stimulating discussion! This class will dig into thought-provoking themes around the intersection of science and society through four books that explore them in different ways. You will come out of the course with a new appreciation for science, especially life sciences and medicine, and the tricky questions that researchers can face. No prior scientific knowledge is necessary and all are welcome.
We will read Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake, The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee, Intuition by Allegra Goodman, and Complications by Atul Gawande.

Notes:

Class meets every other week. (Entangled Life will be discussed at the first class, and The Gene will be covered over two class sessions.) Books can be found through the library or local bookshops.
Fee: $59.00
