European-born Rouben Mamoulian (1897-1987) was a brilliant and innovative director in theater and film of the early 20th century. He was also extremely arrogant and self-centered, which caused his career to decline as he became increasingly tough to deal with. We'll examine the life and career of this difficult genius and watch some of his best early films, including the 1931 Oscar-winning version of "Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde", and the acclaimed Rodgers & Hart musical "Love Me Tonight." Each film will be accompanied by vintage cartoons and comedy shorts of the time period.
