The soundtracks of the animated cartoons produced in the 1930s, '40s and '50s draw on a wide variety of musical sources - anything from Irving Berlin's latest pop hit to Wagner's grand operas. This course will illustrate the many ways in which beloved characters like Bugs Bunny and Betty Boop used classical, jazz and popular music as part of their humor, and also examine the brilliant, unique and innovative original music by cartoon composers Carl Stalling, Milt Franklyn and Scott Bradley. If you love music, love cartoons, or both, this will be a fun and unique experience.
