It seems that shouting matches and insults are increasingly replacing civil conversation about politics. This especially happens at family holiday gatherings. How can we avoid responding to antagonism and instead lead conversations to connection and common ground, to curiosity rather than judgment? Drawing on concepts from Marshall Rosenberg (Nonviolent Communication), George Lakoff, Robb Willer and others, this program will introduce and offer practice in using some techniques that can be helpful in shifting the quality of these conversations.
